The Most Popular WNBA Team in Each State

May 13, 2025 by Madison Marx

The 2025 WNBA season is shaping up to be one for the history books. Not only is the league welcoming a long-awaited expansion team—bringing the total number of franchises to 13—but fans can also look forward to a record number of games on the WNBA schedule.

From superstars like Breanna Stewart and A’ja Wilson to buzzy rookies like Dominique Malonga and Paige Bueckers, interest in the league continues to skyrocket. That surge in popularity is now showing up everywhere—from TV ratings to high profile sponsorships—and perhaps most notably, in ticket sales. According to Vivid Seats, demand for WNBA tickets has jumped a staggering 49% this season, with average prices rising from $168 to $251.

As the league tips off, new data from Vivid Seats also sheds light on where fans’ loyalties lie by identifying the most popular WNBA team in each state. In 2025, one team stands above the rest. Led by the 2024 Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever are the best-selling team in 13 states—more than any other franchise in the league.

Check out the interactive map below to see the most popular WNBA team in your state and keep reading to find out what to watch for during the 2025 WNBA season.

Eyes Remain on Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever

Ever since the Indiana Fever called Caitlin Clark’s name as the No. 1 overall pick in 2024, their fanbase has been on a meteoric rise. In 2023, the Fever were the most popular team in just two states. By 2024, that number jumped to six. Now, in 2025, they reign supreme in 13 states. The Caitlin Clark Effect is very, very real.

Whether they’re at home in Indianapolis or packing arenas on the road, the Fever are the hottest ticket in the league, with an average sold price of $305 for home and away games. In fact, they’re the driving force behind four of the top five most in-demand WNBA games this season.

Leading the charge is the June 19 showdown between Clark and the league’s new expansion team, the Golden State Valkyries—a blockbuster matchup commanding an average ticket price of $519, making it the most sought-after regular-season game this season.
But that’s not the only date fans are circling. On Aug. 1, all eyes will shift to Bueckers vs. Clark in Dallas. It’s currently the second most in-demand game this year, with an average ticket price of $514. Although the Aug. 1 Wings-Fever matchup is still scheduled to be played at College Park Center, Clark believes the game should be moved to the American Airlines Center, like their June 27 matchup was.

The Paige Bueckers Effect is in Full Swing

The WNBA’s incoming rookie class is one for the ages, headlined by none other than Paige Bueckers—the UConn phenom who went No. 1 overall to the Dallas Wings. And it didn’t take long for her star power to make an impact.

After Bueckers’ name was called, traffic to the Dallas Wings page on Vivid Seats surged by a staggering 389%. Fans aren’t just clicking—they’re buying. The average ticket price for the Wings is up 74% compared to last season, a clear sign of the Bueckers effect in full swing.

Her arrival is helping the Wings break through nationally, too. In the immediate wake of the draft, the Wings became the best-selling WNBA team in four states.

Bay Area Buzz: The Valkyries Take Flight as the WNBA’s Hottest New Ticket

San Francisco has long been a basketball town, fueled by the dynastic run of the Golden State Warriors—and now, the city is rallying behind its newest team: the Golden State Valkyries.

The WNBA’s highly anticipated expansion franchise is already making noise before playing a single game. On the WNBA Draft night, the Valkyries saw a staggering 281% spike in site traffic on Vivid Seats, signaling sky-high interest from Bay Area fans. That excitement is translating the box office, too—when it comes to home games only, the Valkyries are among the most in-demand, with average ticket prices at Chase Center hitting $286, the fifth highest in the WNBA.
